I love "Dominic Deegan: Oracle For Hire" (http://www.dominic-deegan.com/view.php?date=2002-05-21), been reading it for a few years now and you really see how the art improves over time! And of course there's always One Manga (http://www.onemanga.com/) but that's more manga than actual comics.

I just want to thank you for suggesting this because I love!!!! Its my favorite now!!!

Another one that's escaped my notice until now! Dead Winter

If you like zombies at all, do yourself a favor and read that one. Its about 325 strips in so it'll take a few hours to read all the way through (well this connection is slow...maybe less...) but the art is great and the story is really well done.

I have quite a few that I keep up with. There have been many that have already been noted [QC, MA3, Red String... etc]... but I didn't see these in your lists:

- Not really based in real life, but cute nonetheless. The art is amazing, too.

Real Life: http://www.reallifecomics.com/
- Follows the life [sorta] of Greg Dean, the creator. He loves video games, Star Trek, and has taken some liberties with reality in order to get some awesome story lines. Tony is my favorite character.

- The characters are interesting, and although I get confused once in a while, it really does have some good plots. Plus K, the main character, is totally relatable.

Eros, Inc.: http://www.commonnamefilms.com/erosinc/
- Follows the life of real life cupids. Cute, and the characters are pretty cool. Deals with some real relationship issues, and has zany wierdness to balance it out.

Goblins: http://goblins.keenspot.com/
- For anyone into roleplay gaming [D&D, for example], this is a comic about gaming... from the monster's point of view. The art is pretty good, and at points there are a few too many characters to keep track of, but the stories are awesome.

Wapsi Square: http://wapsisquare.com/
- The main character is an archaeologist with mega boobs, who somehow manages to collect quite a few supernatural friends while trying to save the world. I got hooked on it after just a few comics.

El Goonish Shive: http://www.egscomics.com/
- Supernatural beings, saving the world, and people changing genders? Yup, that and more. The characters face serious obstacles, and grow/mature really convincingly throughout the comic. I like that.

Accursed Dragon! I only just stumbled across it a couple days ago. It's a melodramatic fantasy adventure with one thing that makes it stand out: the comics still have funny punch lines.

Bitter, cynical, half-crazed squirrel ranting about pretty much everything. I like it. Has no place in this comic, but he could teach the squirrel mafia a few things.

I've taken the liberty of linking to the first comic, so you can just start from there if you want.

Anyway, good story, great sense of humour, interesting characters, and like Candi's story here, the author treads carefully between cynicism and optimism without swinging too far in either direction. Updates are more regular [no offence Starline; I know you're busy]. The artwork sometimes leaves something to be desired, but he's working on that, and it's no XKCD [which I'm also very fond of].
