What are you playing?

It can't possibly be 10 hours of gameplay. Maybe only 10 REQUIRED hours because you don't HAVE to do every mission, but then you'll probably die. You have to do everything right or you and your squad die. Or some of your squad die. It's hard to keep everybody alive on the first playthrough. They call it a suicide mission and they mean it. And I guess that my perception might a little off because I'm on my 2nd playthrough with a 3rd planned but there's still no way I believe that it's only 10 hours.

There's free dlc too that extends the game, as long as you get a new copy of the game (otherwise it's $15 to get the code to get all the free stuff). Then they have premium dlc that you have to pay for. Kasumi the squad member is COMPLETELY worth paying for, I can't remember the other pay stuff. She's fantastic, easily one of the favorites. Zaeed is free and he's a little meh but he's free so why not?

But um. I'm a little obsessed like I said, so grain of salt and all that!

It's encouraging to hear that Mass Effect 2 has good re-play incentive. I already know I want to replay DA:O after I let the plot fade some in my head. I'll stick it on the list. Thanks for the recommendation!

I got Steam for my Mac, and I will be playing Portal for the first time. (trying to figure out when though! I have no extra time lately!)

Sure sure. :) Finished my second playthrough by the way. I need to remember sleeping again. -_-

Ooooo! Portal is lovely. It's very creative and makes you strategize. Plus, a lot of the early levels are pretty short, so that should help you timewise.

And because I can't help myself, the cake is a lie! :D

Yes, yes it is.

It *can* be installed on Linux [and run under Wine], but doing so gets a bit tricky and I haven't had the time. Requires ActiveX, among other things. Great story though, Ellen McLain won awards for her role as GLaDOS, and I'm a huge fan of Jonathan Coulton.

That MV was awesome. Thanks for that. You've probably seen Portal: A Day in the Life of a Turret but just in case: http://tinyurl.com/5znou8

Yeah I like Ray Koefoed. There's something wrong with his mind. :-)

I had, but thanks for reminding me. :-) I kind of prefer the insipid cutesy voices they came with though.

And now for something completely different; celebrity gossip.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (XBox 360) - Hard not to come back to this game every once in a while.
Record of Agarest War (XBox 360) - Interesting little RPG that's getting more attention from me than FF XIII. How very strange...

Wow, it's been a while since anyone has posted in this topic. Currently, I'm giving Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword a good workout. The new control scheme makes it a lot of fun.

I've been Skyriming it up as if it weren't exam season. That might come back and bite me but damned if this game isn't addictive.

I've only recently gotten back into console gaming (since I hadn't actually played a console game since the nintendo 64), and only now gotten started on the Dead Space series. I know it's old news now, but I just finished the first game in the series, and I have to say, for as scary as this game was made out to be...

Jump-moments are not scary to me, in the slightest. O, would you look at that, something just jumped out at me from off camera in a poorly-lit hallway, o no! ~_~ It's a very cheap effect, which unfortunately a lot of games (AND movies) these days seem to rely on. There were exactly TWO moments in this game that actually nailed the psychology of fear, as far as I'm concerned at least, but one of those was probably an unintentional glitch anyway. And oddly enough, if you ARE the sort of person who is easily frightened enough that jump-moments do really scare you, then you probably wouldn't even like this game.

I do like the gameplay and the storyline though. Some games sacrifice one to give emphasis to the other, but the first one really did have a fun, fair balance of the two concepts, so I'm now itching to play Dead Space: Extraction, and then Dead Space 2. :D

Survival horror is one of my favorite genres, and Dead Space puts a few fun twists into it, for me at least. I know, I'm lagged behind the times and it's years old by now, but it's kinda sweet that I now get to play these awesome games for a fraction of the price for having waited so patiently to do so. :3
