Or he was lying? I'm hoping not but this seems like he was lying to Trevor. :/ Cuz if so,he wins horrible Dad of the year.

From two different strips. It makes you wonder if he was lying about this as well.

But there's no guarantee that he WAS lying. It could be that she's the one being two-faced here. It could be that she wanted Trevor to grow up but also wanted to be the good guy so she talked her ex into being the bad guy to deliver the news. I'm open to believing that they are both pretty messed up.

Or maybe Trevor was being weirdly vague. But I get the feeling Trevor's Dad,on top of all his asshole homophobic ways,is lying. Doesn't seem like much of a stretch for that guy.

Well, she certainly knows her son.

There’s nothing here to indicate that she wasn't the one that wanted him cut off to force him to be more self sufficient and learn not to prank his roommates. And now he's asked to see her. She knows him well enough to ask what he wants that he can't get from his father, with an amused smirk. Now it's possible that his father was making it up, but we really haven't seen anything to indicate it yet.

My first impression of his mother is that she's more than a match for his father.

My first impression is that she has to be asked to visit her son. Who's still relatively young and got cut off from his financial support system. Seems like neither of his parents are terribly good emotional support. :/ I'm not surprised, but it makes me really sad for him.

Whether or not she's right or wrong about why he asked- in the end, he's still young enough that if they don't like how he is, they need to look in the mirror. He's actually done a good amount of growing since getting cut off, although I'm sure he'd leap back onto his old way of being in a heartbeat if he could.

She made the right choice to cut him off, but if the only way they ever showed affection was in gifts, and they haven't corrected for it by being more emotionally involved, then that really sucks for him.

We can only speculate on the back story. It may be that his father got him in the divorce and his mother couldn't see him without his father's permission till he was of age. If his input had anything to do with which parent he wound up with then she would have good reason to wait until being asked.

Or all that may be completely wrong. Hopefully we'll get some clues as the conversation progresses.
