How many students are able to actually meet with her? How can she take credit for students getting into the program they apply to when they have never been able to meet with her? Or is this just an off year because the stars are not aligned?

Also, why should acceptance into the program be the measure of success for her? Maybe the ones accepting applications are too lenient. A better measure of success would be that they succeed once accepted. Do they do well in the program? Do they land good jobs in the field of their choice once they graduate from the program? If you help a kid into the program who just doesn't have the chops for it and she fails and has to drop out or change majors, how exactly have you helped that kid?

Agreed; obviously this woman has dodged being outright fired because of the touted 'successes' she's had. Spin it to the right bureaucrat and she'd be considered a 'wunderkind' and given all the leeway she wants as long as students are getting into programs. Sometimes that's all that matters, long as students get into programs while in school the facility can consider their jobs 'done and done' and get their kudos and funding from the state and government for keeping number flowing.

However on the other side of things; from what Fitz is insinuating; those students probably had to do ALL the work themselves, especially those who couldn't even get in to TALK to her; and she still takes credit for their 'successes' because she was their registered councilor, and if they're in an Art Program she vouches for; all the easier to claim credit.

Oddly enough, religion and hobbies are not usually considered barriers to employment. At an educational institution, religion is probably something they are bared from asking about before employing someone and such an institution may even encourage diversity.

I'm guessing she doesn't have tenure. That kind of position is not one that normally leads to tenure. Now there are departments where the funds aren't allocated to have a flunkies doing unpopular but necessary jobs like advising students and the professors will divide such tasks up among themselves. But if she had tenure, she wouldn't be worried about the janitorial staff and Fritz wouldn't be talking to her that way. Unless he's a department head, in which case we would have seen clues. Fritz doesn't have the air of a department head. My best guess is that she's a student employee, someone who has gone through the early steps of the program and knows the ropes.

I can't help wondering where this is going. This kind of a lead-in hints that Ellen is going to be an important recurring character.

I actually have a feeling I'm going to like this character. Yeah, she may be obnoxious in some ways but I have a feeling she's going to make me laugh and get some interesting stories going.

Now that Fitz has stepped in, she's going to meet with Candi and give her some sort of advice even if it is something along the lines of, "we're going to have to wait to decide until after the stars are more aligned" or whatever but it will be interesting to see how Candi reacts to her new age beliefs.

I actually have a feeling I'm going to like this character. Yeah, she may be obnoxious in some ways but I have a feeling she's going to make me laugh and get some interesting stories going.

I think I'll like her as a character - while being glad I don't have to deal with her in real life.
