I'm guessing that she won't answer the door when it is knocked but when he starts yelling through the door she'll eventually open it.

Oh, this is NOT the first time that the issue has come up WITH FITZ. Specifically...

And, judging from the more-current comics, he TRIED to do something about it.

Wow, so this character's appearance was set-up practically two years ago! Now I'm excited.

But he just said in Monday's comic that "We talked to her about this..."

I bet if she isn't in her office, he's going to do something to initiate (or add to) some sort of a formal disciplinary process.

There's a we in this. So I'm guessing he isn't the only one who talked. Talked. Not got up and showed her it isn't okay. Especially when she needs to work. And that being said, why aren't the others who talked to her doing anything either?

The first step in most disciplinary paths is talking to the person. The verbal warning is usually enough. And if none of the students told them she wasn't on hand still, after being spoken to, how are those others going to know?

Same can be said of a certain art prof.

There's a difference between an adviser that doesn't advise and a prof that's rather subjective in his grading. The prof might screw things up a bit for a student, but that adviser is fucking over entire classes right now.

I would imagine that in a field like art you'd expect a significant subjective factor to grading. It also seems like discerning what a particular professor likes and wants early on would be a valuable if not vital skill to have when being hired to create art for someone else. Being able to adapt your art so it is still you but also appeals to party x even when they aren't the best at fully articulating what they like seems crucial to succeeding professionally in art.

I had tons of professors that docked points for things I didn't expect or perhaps disproportionately for things I knew about but didn't know I needed to prioritize. I adjusted my writing style accordingly and was able to do well in those classes. It seems like Candi has been able to do it as well. Honestly, from all the times she's surprised at her good grades, it seems to me like she has internalized some of the esoteric things Fitz is looking for and now does it naturally. Give the man a raise!

Also, as I understand it, grades are more or less worthless in the real world when it comes to art. Having a portfolio that showcases your talents, particularly at several different styles, seems to be more important. Unless she's planning on going to grad school, which is where her GPA would actually matter somewhat, staying in the art program to learn more is more important than making one teacher happy.

In other words, Fitz can be subjective and biased because it's all made up and the points don't matter.

In the END it doesn't matter, but while she's still in school she and a lot of other people risk losing their scholarships if their gpa drops below a certain level. But you're right, if Fitz is the only one who grades wonky and you're doing well in the rest of your classes it may not matter too much.

Well, let's assume she needs a 2.5 or higher to keep a need-based scholarship. As long as her lowest grade is a C+,she's fine. And I doubt she's doing worse than that with Fitz, even with his grading. Actually, I doubt she's even doing that badly.
