What's Fitz regretting? He gave too much to do, or what? :?

I think he's just overwhelmed by all the questions, haha. Hopefully it's just a tongue-in-cheek remark and not genuine regret :P

What this translates to is "Where's the person who's supposed to be bombarded with all of these questions?"
This is the moment, the very instant, that we've all been waiting for/ No stupid gimmicks or Halloween tricks/ Let's get together and number our sores.

Poor Fitz, it's always hard to be the only competent person :D
There was a little girl who had a little curl
Right in the middle of her forehead,
When she was good, she was very, very good,
But when she was bad, she was horrid!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand now we wait and see if Fitz actually does what a Teacher is supposed to do... or he totally does something in line of the expectations of those of us who expect the worst of him first?

Well, I'm not one of those who expect the worst of him. On a previous occasion when he learned that the advisor was not doing his/her job, he attempted to fill in the immediately-relevant details. That's what I expect of him this time as well.

That, and going to the appropriate person to pitch a fit about the advisor's failure to appear.

I do wonder where the advisor is though. (I hope she's not running a pole-dancing fitness school.)

And this brings up the main issue I've always had with Fitz' teaching methods.

He gives vague and loose assignments, which is understandable for an art class. The problem is that he then "punishes" the students for not giving him results that fall in the narrow range of ideas he had in mind for the lesson.

I think that's one of the main reasons Candi and his other students appear to dread the thought of having to go to him for clarification on their projects. Especially when you look at how he seems to take pleasure in the failings of the students in many of the strips involving Candi and her classmates' struggles with his projects/grading.

Either keep it loose and more free-form or create assignments with a more specific goal and requirements in mind. But he really needs to pick one and actually stick with it for the assignment. Mix up the approach between the assignments, but freaking pick one or the other for an individual assignment. And if a concept or development idea can be relayed to students in a simple straight-forward manner, then he needs to be straight-forward about it. If he wants them to experiment and be creative, he should stop coming down on them when they do and it doesn't fit what his vision of what he expected them to do.

Sadly, all of this reminds me very much of many of the professors I had in college though.

We're going to have to disagree about that one. It's so much better than most of the other possibilities.

I had a literal laugh out loud moment when the first thought to come to my mind was the pole dancing and opened that day's thread to see that PaulJones already posted it. I'm not sure what would be the most interesting possibility, though. It might be fun to just leave it as a running gag like that sitcom where they never show the neighbor's face. Or maybe it turns out she's been held captive by the squirrel mafia for years and no one ever looked into her disappearance. Pole dancing is probably among the easiest entertaining possibilities, though.

I'm of the opinion that Fitz will come through. I think from Candi's perspective he's supposed to be this hard ass who gives her a hard time. However he really does care about teaching and wanting his students to grow and challenge themselves. Candi wasn't doing that by staying with only drawing anime style. He also gave her good advice to be sketching daily. She should have been told to do that week one year one, but gotta start some time.
