So... did Alex shave in the time between the previous strip and this one??

It's actually symbolic for how compared to Chris, Alex appears as the baby-faced, whiny douche-canoe that he is.

Haha, and she likes him better than you Alex :P. I like how this ended. All of a sudden Candi is like time with Chris is > socializing with Alex.

The reason Chris is 'annoying' is that she doesn't WANT to admit that she's misread him all these years. There's a thing called saving face and it keeps people from admitting that they're making fools of themselves for stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, STUPID reasons.

Well he's annoyingly likeable. I really hope this works out for her.

I find it kind of weird that Alex would jump to Chris right away. I mean, I know he doesn't like the guy, but is he on his mind so often that simply hearing about an "annoying person" makes him instantly think of him? Alex and Chris have barely interacted in the comic, and I just can't imagine Chris being at the forefront of his mind. But, hey, coincidences happen, I guess?

Also, maybe I'm misreading the text messages, but what is Candi saying "No, thank(s)" too? He just asked if she finished her paper. The best I can presume is that it actually says "No thanks to you", but in that case there shouldn't be a comma after 'no'. /nitpicky

Aaaand Candi's offered to "catch up again later". Sigh. :( Candi, Alex doesn't deserve your time. Spend it on better things, better people.

Makes me wonder what things would be like if Candi had been with Chris at the time she was with Alex...

Alex hates Chris for something or other. I think Chris threw a tennis ball at his head once? Anyways, given that Alex hates Chris and all 3 are mutual acquaintances, not so weird that his mind would go there.

As for the phone, it's a smartphone. It's very easy to make spelling and grammar mistakes on a touchscreen. I do most of my posting from a tablet now and it's amazing how hard it is not to mess up. It's worse on my phone, which is why I actually have the autocorrect turned on there.

The ball to the head incident is what Candi assumes is the reason for Alex hating Chris and Alex's response at the time clearly showed it bothered him and still does. But I suspect that it's not JUST that incident. If Chris was regularly being playfully obnoxious with Candi during their high school years (he did indicate when he threw her over his shoulder to carry her to class that he'd been doing that kind of thing in high school) then I could easily see Alex interpreting it (perhaps correctly) that it was flirting on the sly. If he was already dating her that could be plenty reason to dislike Chris.

Alex hates Chris' intestinal tract and everything it nourishes. Chris is smart, athletic, attractive, and charismatic, attributes that Alick is notably lacking. Jealousy is an ugly thing, and so is that stunted thing Alick calls his soul, when he bothers. Kinda wish he knew that our favorite pinkie is off to meet up with his bete noir, but that might cause an ugly scene, something Candi doesn't need.

BTW, Starline, love the expression in the fourth panel :D :!:
There was a little girl who had a little curl
Right in the middle of her forehead,
When she was good, she was very, very good,
But when she was bad, she was horrid!

Whoops, looks like the 5 o'clock shadow filter has been applied to the comic some time in the last few hours... ;)

Its too bad Candi didn't take the route of "Oh its my (unnamed) boyfriend/date - Gotta run!" just to hear Alex's brain audibly exploding.

If any of that was the case, then yeah, I can sort of see why Alex would jump to Chris.

But as far as we know, there was the tennis ball incident, a continued dislike of Chris throughout highschool, then... what, a few fleeting encounters in college? It's not that I believe Alex is uncapable of being this petty, haha :P It just seems contrived that he'd immediately think "CHRIS" when all Candi said was an "annoying person" - and be right, on top of it all. I can appreciate it happening to make the scene more comedic, but I just find it a bit eyebrow-raise-worthy.

Right, I acknowledge that that's a very realistic thing that happens, but I don't know why that bit of realism would be showcased now at the risk of causing confusion. Even if, yes, it's an extremely minor minor bit of confusion that doesn't hugely impact the story ;) - it doesn't seem worth it.

I love it too! But maybe not as much as the expression in panel 3. That is gold. XD

Chris doesn't take himself so seriously and that bugs the Hell out of Alex....mostly because it means that he's pissing his life away worried about jackshit.

And I'm starting to get this REALLY bad feeling that Alex is going to try and get Candi back--while taking on Chris....
