XD I'm kinda happy to see Candi closing the door on his snooping, even if she's not doing it for the sole purpose of shutting him out from a private life he is no longer entitled to.

Well, this is a pretty normal conversation so far. I am pleasantly surprised that it hasn't ended in tears/drama yet.

On one hand, being friends with your ex is a surprisingly mature move, and one that isn't seen all that often.

On the other hand, what has Alex done to deserve that? Aside from battering his way back into Candi's life on this assumption that they're still 'like family' and therefore will always be there for each other? He's... grown, maybe, but it's still a minute amount compared to how far Candi's come.

Yeeeeeah. But at least this has just been Alex talking to Candi as a friend. And just a friend. Hopefully it will stay that way. Or if not, at the very least we can get to see Candi chew him out again, which would be nice. But yay, growth for Alex. Becoming 1% less of a douchebag.

Yeppers. He hates Chris like poison because the man doesn't take him at all seriously. Heh. I expect at one point, The Biggest Dick In The Whole Wide World might try to sue Chris for definition of character.

It's rather telling she goes through a mental checklist of everything Alex would get on her case about, and just doesn't divulge. It's none of his business and really reflects her lack of comfort with him now. I seem to recall one of things she missed was having the close personal relationship she could be comfortable to allow her walls to drop--something she doesn't even do for Jon, though he comes close--and for Candi that seems a little sad to me, even if in her case, love was blind, deaf and dumb. That one panel says volumes to me, even as Candi says nothing. It really brings home the idea she lost more than just a boyfriend that day. At one point Alex had to have some redeeming qualities for her to lower her defenses and trust issues to eventually have a 3 year relationship with him. She wouldn't have known about 'his big penis' before dating him as such talk completely disconcerts her.

And Alex, the stupid idiot, he is completely unaware of what they've lost. Truly. And that's perhaps the saddest part of all.

And that's also why Alex keeps seeing Candi as a friend. He doesn't know Candi doesn't want to see him ever again. When has she told him? She's told him off at times for bugging her, but never told him to get out of his life. She's basically treating Alex like a friend she's not particularly close to. And somehow from that, we're expecting him to read her mind and know never to bug her again.

And since I know someone will point out that he should realize she doesn't want to see him from how he treated her, he still doesn't seem to grasp how much he hurt her and as far as he can tell, she's over it. Yeah, Alex could be more perceptive and try taking a hint better, but that hint has been pretty damn subtle as of late.

I think Alex as a friend she isn't particularly close to is exactly where Candi wants to be. If she wanted nothing to do with Alex she could have simply let Jon block access. She might not like his grandmother calling but she's eating with him because she's willing to. On the other hand, she isn't confiding because she doesn't want him involved. Needle threaded.
