He didn't even try.
cursormortis wrote:How do we know he didn't try? Are we seriously operating under the assumption that Alex is so inept, he can't or won't make new friends and has no friends other than Candi? Look, Alex shouldn't try dragging Candi back, but I don't think that's what he's doing. Abuela called Candi, Candi called him, and they're having lunch because it's lunch time and hey needed to talk. In this case, it's been a fairly logical progression of events. I somehow doubt Alex sat down one day, twirled his mustache, and wrote out a master plan to get back with Candi that starts with him not calling Abuela. That would just be ridiculous.

As for everyone having an overbearing figure, my family doesn't. I may not want to upset or disappoint them because I see them often, but they're not overbearing. Even if they were, why not cut that person out? In Alex's case, he can't. Abuela isn't just an overbearing figure in his family, she seems to be his entire family at this point.
Lbes face it. At this point Alex could become become the most selfless humanitarian the world ha ever seen, and people on this board would still expect him to kick a puppy if he appeared in the same panel as one.

Yeah, people can change, but not that much or that fast absent some truly life-altering experiences. We haven't seen Alick do anything in the least close to the "nice" category or the "selfless" end of the spectrum of possible behavior. Me, I cut Lure-a some slack after she went to bat for her little sister. (not enough to give her another name, though.)
