I don't think so - I doubt that he was pining and waiting for Candi to call: Chances are he'd ask Candi's mom to call him and tell her its "important" or something. I think him asking her out is to try and make sure he's in his own comfort zone an he has some sort of power over the situation. Like I said, the boy's too stupid to understand that he can't simply toss her aside the stupid way he did and expect it to be all smiles. Trying to get him to see this leads nowhere because you're asking him to consider the possibility that he's fucked up royally because he's not nearly as bright as he'd like to think he is. She's in the right not to want to talk to him or find out the stupid reason he's in hiding because she doesn't need that much concentrated dumb in her life right now.

Yeah, that was my thought as well. I had a double take and wondered for a second if they continued talking off-screen and this was a new phone call on another day. My guess is that Starline either forgot to draw that layer or drew that layer but accidentally uploaded a version of her file that didn't have the layer yet.

For all her "Are you serious now?" it actually makes sense that if he is hesitant or embarrassed to tell his grandma over the phone that he'd also be hesitant or embarrassed to tell Candi over the phone, too. Starline is succeeding in making me more curious to find out what's going on with him.

Damn, I know she won't let it just go and tell Abuela if she calls again "I passed on your message". Candi is too nice (and too stubborn) to just let it go. She's gonna end up getting all the details. Which means (hopefully) we will find out what's going on too. If face to face is the only way Alex can tell her, then she will do it, because she's Candi. It's what she does.

Just thought of something, either weird, or funny: Candi told Alex that she just had a small salad after Alex wanted to meet her over lunch. Why would it be any of Alex's business what she just ate? Wouldn't a simple "I just ate" have sufficed? Makes me wonder if Candi still has the eensiest, tiniest feeling still for the boy...

I doubt it, could be she just blurted it out to quickly shut down a lunch invite and that was merely her choice of words. I myself can sometimes blurt details that aren't wholly necessary when I'm trying to get my point across.
