It is an oddity... still I don't like it seems like Abuela and Candi's Mom expect her to find out Alex's malfunction... yeah she IS on his campus so it's her or bother a school-staffer to find relay a message which may get ignored.

As much as I'm perfectly willing to believe the "Alex is an inconsiderate jerk" theories, I get the feeling this is leading to something a bit more substantial? A descent into alcoholism, perhaps? An impromptu soul-searching roadtrip? Maybe he's become a full-time stalker and is too busy tailing Candi/Linda/Katia, fully expecting to catch them pining over him now that their lives are so incomplete without him? The possibilities are endless!

While I suppose it's possible she's manipulating a reconciliation, it would seem a bit out of what we know of her character. She's worried too, you can see it on her face. Something very strange is going on with Alex and Candi is their only means of finding out short of driving all the way down themselves.

That's so right. Though I suspect it was done for comedic effect, rather than any long term plans, so we can mostly disregard it, right? That makes the depression thing ever more probable.

Could be the busy with studies and soul-searching behavior. That would be interesting to see.

Alex and soul searching don't seem like a thing. I mean this guy's had facts shoved in his face that should have clicked the switch in his brain labeled 'epiphany' but nothing ever clicked. I mean he went from being an upset mess to seemingly rational once Candi yelled at him for being an inconsiderate asshat, and laid out why he shouldn't expect her to come comfort him and that they aren't 'really friends' anymore so he shouldn't expect that level of comfort and intimacy anymore.

This is also the dude who got pissed hearing 'I cheated on you' from Linda, without regard that 'well I cheated on her too so I have no right to get mad'. He doesn't think...he never does like Candi says.

Hell besides his quick scowl cameo when Candi joined the study-date app, we only saw him gaming with Nat like there wasn't a care in the world... besides the moment of dread he felt as Linda learned of his infidelity (and had a likewise reaction to when she told him he cheated).

So really I expect he just turned off his phone and went into total study mode; is being again being a twit in forgetting to call his Grandmother and ignoring all contact since he's 'studying so hard'.

If something else is going on....I'll be 50 % surprised if something serious or meaningful has happened, but also I'll be 50% on expecting my own outcome. Since I can't read Starline's mind I can only imagine where this will lead.
