Kudos to Katia for not staying around for something like that. <33333 I appreciate her ability to be done with a conversation. As naive as she is, she CAN stand up for herself in the best way possible.

XD She's doing something it took a ram-head like me YEARS to learn how to do.

She pushed Thad to talk about something he didn't want to talk about and after Thad politely made that clear, for pretty decent reasons, she kept pushing to provoke as response from him and she got one? How is that in any way worthy of celebrating Katia's behaviour? There both being Goobers about this mess.

See, that's one thing, and not to stomp on your interpretation of the matter, but it's something I disagreed with most of you about on the last strip. I didn't consider a simple comment of 'I'll assume it went bad' as manipulative or pushing. More a commentary on how it made her feel and think. I'll often shove my foot in my mouth making comments like that at times like that too, that are then misinterpreted.
As clever as it is to draw parallels between Katia and Linda, and I do see it, I think somehow this conversation has made people forget that Katia is NOT Linda. We're seeing two sides of a coin, and that must follow that they're going to have their differences because they've grown and responded differently to their similar situations in the past. Where Linda turned into the wicked witch of the East, Katia chose to grow, learn, and better her own self as a person.

I'm not saying she's perfect, I just don't see her being capable of the crafty manipulation it takes to force Thad to have a conversation he clearly doesn't want to have. Katia hasn't been deceitful with him, yet, to my recollection.

And even if she had, that absolutely does not call for him jumping down her throat and cutting her down about her most vulnerable area. That was an absolute verbal attack launched because he was embarrassed that she so effectively saw behind his layers of mystery. (Especially without even trying.) And it takes true maturity, to be able to look a raging bull in the face and say, "Nope."

That's why it's worthy of praise. She's the one not taking bait, she's the one who values herself enough to know what she does and does not deserve to be treated like.

Eh, I think they both took the conversation a bit far. What he said was harsh, but she backed him up into a corner. Unconscious or not, that she wasn't dropping it and continuing to push him after he told her to back off was to some extent manipulation. That she doesn't escalate it further is to her credit, but she's the one who pushed and pushed until he snapped at her, hardly worthy of praise for either of them.

Katia has forgiven others for worse though. I think both will calm down, do some apologizing and go back to being friends once they do. At least I hope so. Sex in the equation does some funny things to friendships. I hope it hasn't ruined this one since he is one of the few boys she's normally comfortable talking to. Since the alternative is Alex (the other boy she's comfortable with) I'd rather see her hanging out with Thad than the campus douchenozzle.

Thad's low blow was seriously so low that Satan said "DAAAAMMMMMNNNN". But yeah that was really nasty. DX Completely understandable but nasty.

Honestly I get why Thad would say something like that to Katia but it was still pretty harsh and I'm sure there was another way to dodge the situation. I bet Katia is going to be mad at him for a while even though from what we've seen so far she doesn't get mad so easily. But what do you think actually happened on the date? I get that he doesn't want to talk to Katia about it because of past relations but will he talk to Candi? I'm sure Candi won't push him to talk about it either (Although she does have those moments.) Also on a completely different note does the cast page work? It won't work for me. :?

Nah, We're all good. But I do disagree. It was a subtle manipulation, deliberate or not I'm certainly not saying she's Linda. However Thad politely declined to comment on the date, and politely told her why and she could have and should have let it drop. the "'I'll assume it went bad' was definitely to provoke a reaction. It got a reaction out of him, just not the one she hoped. Though I'll give you, Thads Low blow was Low, but people backed into corners rarely react well. I think they're both being Goobers about this,

I will throw my hat in with Thad. It wasn't the right thing to do, but he does have my sympathies in spite of having done it.

Katia made the right call in leaving, but, she definitely erred first here.

Ultimately though, neither are awful people. They're just doing less than optimal things as humans are want to do.

I'm with you. I'm curious if Katia realizes now that she erred (perhaps that's why she decided to walk away) or if she feels totally innocent in all this. I'm guessing another conversation with Candi is in her future (or maybe Linda?). There will probably be a scene change, though, with a focus on someone else for a while.

I guess I'm in the minority here because while maybe I should feel bad for Katia, I don't. What Thad said was a little low, but he had tried to be nice about telling her to back off, and she had to come back with one more jab at the end. I don't think Katia ever intentionally tries to be mean, but it seemed like she wanted to have the last word on this one and Thad just wasn't allowing it. I might not have either. What she said was kind of low too.

Once again, Thud proves he is only fit to associate with slugs, worms, and slime molds. Thanks for reacting just like I thought you would, loser. Katia can do better. Lots better. :P

What is it with the misandry here?

Seriously, Katia gets a pass for her awful behavior the whole time, and then when she finally ticks Thad off - suddenly he's the bad guy?

Why are people making so many excuses for Katia?

And who is "lots better" than "Thud"?

Alex? Jon?

Matt and Trevor are taken, although I guess Trevor might be available soon if their long distance thing doesn't work out. Is Trevor lots better than Thad?

I'm sure plenty might see Chris as lots better...but doesn't Candi have dibs on him?

Who does that leave? Nate? Oh sure, lots better than Thad. ;)

Thad and Katia both have severe anxiety at times. Katia around (most) boys and Thad around alligators. Both tend to be oblivious to others at times. Thad, when he's waxing arrogant, and Katia, when she's thinking about boys and how to land more of them. Both can be bluntly honest at times. I think they are around on par with each other.

On a side note, that last panel seems to show Thad feeling a bit of regret. He may be inclined to apologize in the near future. Perhaps he'd even give in and help her out with her men issues. It would be funny seeing Thad as Katia's wing man.

edited to add: forgot to mention, both are prone to idealizing members of the opposite sex. This encounter may actually help both of them develop a deeper relationship beyond the fantasy pedestal they put each other on...or help them decide they don't want a deeper relationship and move on.

Concurred. Katia to me hit a nerve with Thad by NOT backing off, and Thad retaliated by her going too far. That said, both basically reacted like immature imbecilic idiots...
