He probably means Takashi Murakami, doesn't he? Still, I can't help but think...

I had a project similar to that... I was also approached by my then art teacher in a similar manner except with comic book artists in their place.

I miss art school sometimes... :geek:

Also, thanks for the info, Star. The references did go over my head there.

Wow, I got so confused reading that assignment.... I'd hate to have that guy as my teacher, I'd drop the class so fast his head would spin.

art professors can be tough, i had taken a painting class once cause i wanted to learn more, the professor ended up constantly ridiculing my work saying my projects were an example of how to not be as an artist that my stuff was too "cartoony" lol needless to say i ended up dropping it because despite his declaration that no one would receive lower than a c due to art being a matter of opinion....i ended up starting to fail his class :(

Amazingly, that was the first place my mind went to. Not really adding to the discussion, I know, but I just had to comment on it.

I found some of my old assignment papers from school to write that. I didn't change much.

He's passing out a list of names. Each of them is to choose a name, research the artist they've chosen, and do a composition in the spirit of that artist.

...I couldn't do it, of course. Drawing a straight line taxes my artistic ability. But this is apparently Candi's chance to see if she can do her own style well enough that he can't justify failing her.

Meh, I'm just glad that Candi's starting to get back to being her old self again.

Me too.

I hope the attention that's going to be needed for her project will take her mind away from her current situation and once she's finished, she'll realize that she was getting tired of Alex's butt anyway!

My school isn't anything like that, the only problems I've ever had with a teacher is one I was trying to get into her class. She gave me such an attitude about it, I looked her in the eye and told her flat out that I should really "just find a class that would actually benefit me in the future". Sometimes the graphics department isn't so fun XP

Most of my assignments are: "Here's a concept now RUN WITH IT! FLEE!". I once made a peep birdcage where the original idea stemmed from "money" and got an A- on it

I actually prefer the Art Project story-lines to the actual story lines. Takes away from the unnecessary drama.

Except of course when she decides to use that pain from the drama for an art project. Then it just becomes the cliched standard that artists and writers need inspiration whether it's good or bad or some sort of life-changing-event that causes them to "reach their full potential" and finally get that A.

But hopefully that doesn't happen this time and she just does a good art project because she's good at art.
